Focus:
Laboratory is focused on the chemical analysis of the top layers of bulk materials and coatings for the determination of local and/or average chemical composition of the studied metallic and ceramic materials as well as biomaterials and PVD coatings based on Raman spectroscopy and Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy (GDOES). These methods provide fast, technically simple and economically reasonable information about the chemistry of surface and subsurface elemental composition and their changes during the processes of oxidation, corrosion, effects of humidity, tribological tests and wear, etc. These methods can be applied to the studies of all solid materials, surface and subsurface layers and thin coatings.
